A woman’s work

A woman’s work

Liverpool 1958: Sometimes the only thing that kept me going was the memory of my Nan when I was little, bringing me home small white paper bags of glitter. Nan worked as a cleaner in a big department store in Liverpool. At Christmas there was always a ‘grotto’ with Father Christmas, and she would brush up the glitter and bring it home for me.

A Woman’s Work reminded me of those wonderful sweepings.
