A Life in Miniature
The book, 2027
To celebrate twenty years of Glass Cathedrals I wrote a twenty-part account for my newsletter subscribers, of how I got to this point. These letters became the starting point of my memoir, A Life in Miniature, to be published in 2027.
The Short Origin StoryJune 28, 2024“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the play-instinct, acting from inner necessity.

Africa in my BloodJuly 19, 2024Bringing to mind a dramatic mass-migratory politically-charged bundu-bashing Africa, rampaging with rhinos and cinematic sunsets… That was not the Africa of my childhood.
Oppositting with RalphJuly 26, 2024Potato portraits of me and Ralph growing old together, made over several months in California in 2017 I was told about this guy, RALPH, perfect for me.
Harold's Planet - The Original Joyful FailureAugust 2, 2024The very first evening I met Ralph at Khan’s Indian restaurant in London in 1998, he told me the story of Harold’s Planet.
The Joy of Many Failures - Last LemonAugust 16, 2024In the Seychelles in 1998, we wrote a Harold’s Planet story called The Last Lemon.

A Teeny Tiny Me?! The Magical World of CustomisationSept 20, 2024As my collection of Glass Cathedral designs grew, it seemed people really identified with the little figures in the boxes, tiny but mighty!
Weddings GaloreOctober 8, 2024After I started making custom portraits for people, it was only a matter of time before the wedding requests started rolling in.
Our Life as ArtNovember 2, 2024The opening of our family exhibition MAKESHIFT at the North Wall Gallery in Oxford last week is a perfect lead-in to this week’s theme, how I, we, have expressed our life through our art.
In The NowFebruary 2, 2025To the new subscribers, let me fill you in.
The Traveling Bookbox ShowFebruary 2, 2025“I cannot remember the books I’ve read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.”
The Swerling Circus of SmallMarch 9, 2025Slapdash silliness combined with performances of death-defying precision.

The CallingOctober 10, 2025When I was at primary school a teacher went around the room asking each of us: “Do you want to be famous?”
