Places to Play in and Pray in

Said John Muir: “Everybody needs beauty...places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul alike.”
This fall, I'm exhibiting a collection of dioramas about the wild places in California at The Bear Valley Visitor Center in Olema, CA. I'm publishing Glass Cathedrals to my website as I make them...

The mountains are calling

John Muir, Yosemite National Park

John Muir, born in 1838, was one of America’s most famous and influential “Outdoor Enthusiasts" and one of the Fathers of America's National Parks. He once described himself as, a “poetico-trampo-geologist-botanist and ornithologist-naturalist". His letters and writing contain such gems as the title of this artwork - "The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly" - a true calling.
