In the Now

Since 2016 I have been making Glass Cathedrals that explicitly deal with politics and political activism. Each Glass Cathedral was created and exhibited separately (unlike in other collections) but I have brought them together here to be viewed in one place.

Soulsearching

Dedicated to George Floyd

This artwork is inspired by thoughts of George Floyd's daughter, this time of universal soul-searching, and an exploration of the ideas of light and dark as expressed in Morgan Harper Nichols’s poem "Engage in the long, faithful work”.

Here is Morgan's description of darkness:
"And as you lean into Light,
be gentle with the word “darkness.”
For more than it merely means wrong or bad,
it is also the color of a full, starless night sky,
and actual bodies
of human beings
who have been overlooked
too many times.” -

This night is host to millions of stars, and the stars illuminate the glory of the darkness. We’re all in this together.
